Jesse Bickle Home--"The Maples"
800 W. 13th St

Preserved by the Crete Bicentennial Society, the 17-acre Maples Heritage Complex was once part of Crete founder Jesse C. Bickle's 80-acre homestead.

The Bickle farmstead includes the 1864 log cabin, a nearly 20th century barn, outbuildings and the Saline County District 1 Star School.

The Star School is a period schoolhouse from the 1910-1915 era.

The 5,000-sq-ft Benne Memorial Museum also is located here and includes an exhibit gallery and archive library.

The museum displays exhibits that interpret Crete area history and hosts heritage education activities throughout the year.
